What are Dermal Fillers?

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Follow up in two weeks is recommended to evaluate and determine if touch up is needed. If at goal results after resolution of swelling follow up recommended about 6 months for touch up. 

 

HOW QUICKLY WILL I SEE RESULTS?

The effects are immediate although the initial swelling that occurs will distort the actual end result. You may have to wait a day or two for the swelling to subside to see the true end result in terms of shape and volume. 

 

HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT IN BETWEEN TREATMENTS?

6 months

 

CAN ANYONE USE DERMAL FILLERS? 

Dermal fillers are not recommended in pregnant or lactating mothers.  A consultation is requires to determine if you are a good candidate for fillers. 

 

CAN THIS BE USED IN COMBINATION WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Yes, Dermal fillers can be used in the same treatment session, or a few days after other treatments.

WHEN CAN I PUT MAKE-UP ON AFTER TREATMENT?

Make up can be applied after the treatment. Patients should expect to see micro lesions a few days after treatment and slight redness for up to 1 week depending on treatment parameters.

 

WHAT KIND OF POST PROCEDURE CARE IS REQUIRED?

Avoid  exercise for at least 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid sweltering temperatures for at least 24 hours after treatment.
Drink plenty of water.
Avoid excessive salt for 24 hours as this can cause dehydration.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
Do not use AHA, Retinols/Vitamin C therapy or oil based make-up for 24 hours
Avoid facials, facial waxing, Glycolic or AHA peels, IPL or energy based treatments and microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment. Please check with your physician before undergoing other facial treatments within this time
Avoid massaging or laying on your face directly after the procedure and possibly for up to 24 hours.
Be gentle with your skin while washing for 24 hours
Don’t use and exfoliating agent for 24 hours or any harsh cleaning brush
Don’t have a facial massage for at least two weeks
Try to sleep on your back

Patients should moisturize the treatment area and avoid direct sun exposure. It is also recommended that patients use a good, broad spectrum sunscreen every day. In addition to reducing their future risk of skin cancer, sunscreens also reduce wrinkles and slow the aging process.
